She doesn't get sick very often, but when she does it's the real deal. High temps, listless days, and sleepless nights. We've been at it all week. But that's just the way that it rolls sometimes.

Her birthday is on Saturday {3!} so we now have a 'getting better' deadline {insert wry smile here}; we've been to the doctor and {as suspected} she has a secondary lung infection, so while she's not contagious, we just have our fingers crossed that she be feeling a whole lot better in 48 hours.

sun up

My morning started by chasing the sunrise. I was awake and up well before first light, and in the pre-dawn quiet I realised that a beautiful fog had descended over night. I was out of the house like a flash, camera gear in tow, racing towards a {hopefully} beautiful sunrise. It was pretty, and I'm happy that I created an image that reflects the quiet of a new day dawning.

The rest of my day was a little more dark ::

together with a group of fellow photographers, we explored some of the abandoned little places tucked in and around melbourne. I had an awesome day exploring places that I would never go on my own, and was in my own little happy place, clicking away.

that's all for now {but if you want to have a little peek at what else I got up to during the week, check out Victoria's place}

now {4wd edition}

now {4wd edition}

That is {unfortunately} how I feel about landscape photography. Don't get me wrong, I love a good landscape photograph just as much as the next person, and I have the utmost respect for those talented individuals that can take a stunning landscape, one that communicates the beauty of a place, one that speaks to the viewer.

I just wish that I could see it when I have the landscape in front of me, camera in hand ready to click.

I have driven for hours in search of a stunning landscape. Three days total. I'm done. There will not be a stunning {traditional} landscape in my folio this semester... it will be an apt indication that I do not yet have the skill / eye to be able to take one. Because, well, I don't.

 However, what I have enjoyed is hour upon hour of driving, that has taken me to the most beautiful landscapes around the range. Gorgeous farms, rolling hills, dirt tracks, quiet little spots. That part I've enjoyed immensely. I've stumbled across vistas that have made my breath catch {I just can't catch them in a photo darn it}. I've taken my 4wd off road for the first time {well just a little, but it was dirt} and I've enjoyed the process.

and for now, I'm going to have to be satisfied with that, because I have other shots to make and other things to do.

that's all for now. x

now {for lunch}

turkish w. turkey

I'm trying to get some food photography done this week.

Really, I can't complain, because the standard of food that I'm used to eating has just improved. Today I enjoyed a turkey, cranberry, toasted turkish bread. It was good.

That's all for now. x

now {on my desk}

now {on my desk}

Do you remember those articles that they would publish in Dolly magazine {back in the day} showing the contents of various people's handbags?... this photo sort of reminds me of that.

I bought a doo-hickey at the camera shop yesterday that enables me to take birds-eye photos with my camera.

So here is my desk.

It says a little about my day.

I've been sitting here knitting {and unraveling and knitting} but finally I figured out the pattern from this, using a wonderful book that my grandmother gave to me called The Harmony Guide to Knitting Stitches. Now I just need to find my 'bendy' cable hook and the whole thing will get a ton easier.

The remnants of searching for a remembered article in an old donna hay magazine is still in evidence.

I've drunk too many cups of tea {again} today {too much sugar!!}

I found my little flock deer in the girls room with the flock eaten off her leg. No guesses as to who did that.

Thats all for now. x

peak hour

It may seem that I've not been around.
I've reached the pointy end of my school semester {didn't that come around quick!}
and I've been working, working, working on my folio.
I've also cobbled together a website for my photographic journey.
It's a bit rough at the moment, but you can have a sticky over there if you like.
If you keep an eye on it, you'll notice more photos slowly being added...
and then you'll know where I've been *wink*

Thats all from me for now. x
